Referral process:

Referrals before 4pm, Mon – Fri. We are very unlikely to be able to assess and process referrals outside of this time.

Referrals can be made via the following local Housing Options Teams:

Housing Options Teams will:

• Receive referrals from outside agencies and undertake a housing options interview with the young person.
• Contact the Emergency Lodgings Worker to discuss availability.
• Undertake joint assessments where possible with the Emergency Lodgings Worker to ascertain suitability.
• Find alternative accommodation if the scheme is full, or the young person not accepted for Emergency Lodgings.

Alternatively, for 16 and 17 yr olds only, you can contact your local Children’s Services office (Social Services) and they can assess if a young person is in housing need and make the appropriate referral.

The Emergency Lodgings Worker will:

• Undertake joint assessments where possible with the Housing Options Teams/Children’s Social Care to ascertain suitability.
• Where possible, transport young people accepted onto the scheme to a matched placement within East Lancashire.
• Work with the young person on placement and relevant mediation services to secure a return home where appropriate, or to support the young person in moving on to suitable medium-term accommodation.

The Lodgings Householders will:

• Be available on a retainer basis according to a planned rota.
• Endeavour to make a young person feel welcome in their home and support the Emergency Lodgings Worker in working with that young person on placement.
